Functional Lead Engineer (EI&C)

Location: Chennai, India; domestic and international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Lead the functional design, specification, and engineering of Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control systems for heavy process industry projects.
• Develop and review EI&C architectures, control philosophies, functional design specifications, control narratives, wiring diagrams, and loop diagrams.
• Select and specify control system hardware and software, including DCS, PLC, and SCADA solutions.
• Integrate EI&C systems with process, mechanical, and other plant disciplines.
• Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments, and provide solutions for complex engineering challenges.
• Support supplier evaluations, technical bid analysis, FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, documentation, and project handover.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• 8–12 years of progressive EI&C engineering experience, including functional design and lead responsibilities in heavy process industries.
• Expertise in designing and implementing DCS platforms such as hirify.global DNA, ABB, Siemens, Emerson, Honeywell, or similar systems.
• Strong knowledge of field instrumentation, control valves, MCCs, VFDs, and low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
• Familiarity with IEC, ISA, ATEX, and SIL standards, plus experience across the project lifecycle through commissioning and startup.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and willingness to travel domestically and internationally are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with functional engineering in the COMOS tool.
