TL;DR
Project Engineer (Telecoms Networking): Delivering and maintaining telecoms network installation and commissioning projects across Scotland with an accent on IP networking, routing, switching, and Nokia platforms. Location: Field based in the United Kingdom, with travel across Scotland and occasional work away from home

What you will do

  • Support project and senior project managers with scoping, planning, implementation, and delivery of technical projects.
  • Plan and deliver installation and commissioning projects of varying scale, complexity, and technology.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, report on, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and telecoms equipment.
  • Complete site surveys and support the maintenance of the SPEN telecoms network across Scotland.
  • Provide technical representation at customer meetings and assist with critical network faults.
  • Create technical handover documentation and health-and-safety documents, including RAMS and POWRA.

Requirements

  • Proven experience monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network and system environments.
  • Strong IP networking background with CCNA-level knowledge of WAN, LAN, and MPLS.
  • Hands-on experience with Nokia SAR-H and Nokia NFM-P platforms.
  • Experience with XTran technology and a strong understanding of routing, switching, and data networking principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for network and technical diagramming.
  • Full driving licence required due to travel across Scotland; willingness and ability to obtain Secure Vetting (SC) clearance required.
