Data Cabling Engineer (Structured Cabling)

Location: Onsite in Yeovil, UK, supporting the Yeovil site and wider MOD estate. Candidates must be sole UK nationals and must have lived and worked continuously in the UK for the past five years. Out-of-hours work and occasional overnight stays may be required.

What you will do

• Install, terminate, test, maintain, and repair Cat6/Cat6A copper cabling.
• Install, terminate, and test single-mode and multimode fibre-optic cabling internally and externally.
• Install cable basket, tray, trunking, and conduit containment systems.
• Install wireless access points and networking hardware.
• Investigate faults, perform diagnostics, complete remedial works, and certify cabling using Fluke Versiv equipment.
• Work from technical drawings, patching schedules, risk assessments, and method statements while following health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Security clearance eligibility is required.
• Sole UK nationality and five years of continuous residence and employment in the UK are required; dual nationals cannot be considered.
• Experience in data or structured cabling, including copper and fibre-optic installation and testing.
• Knowledge of JSP 604 cabling practices and experience using Fluke Versiv copper and fibre testing equipment.
• SSSTC certification, a valid ECS or CSCS card, and a CNCI or City & Guilds cabling qualification.
• IPAF 3a/3b, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness, and a full valid UK driving licence.
