Senior Resident Engineer (Juniper)

Location: Remote/Teleworker, primarily working from home; salary range specified for the United States in Colorado. Up to 10% travel to customer sites is expected.

Salary: $111,000–$211,000 annual base salary in Colorado, United States. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical support contact and networking subject matter expert for an assigned customer.
• Diagnose and resolve break/fix incidents involving customer production network equipment and restore network services quickly.
• Advise customers on Junos configurations, network design, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, best practices, and automation.
• Review engineering designs and project activities for compliance with technology standards and provide feedback to improve quality.
• Contribute domain expertise and engineering leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and technology integrations.
• Mentor less-experienced staff and collaborate with internal and outsourced development partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, another engineering discipline, computer science, or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of relevant experience with expert knowledge of Tier 1 ISP routing, including MPLS, IS-IS, BGP, and VPN troubleshooting.
• Expert knowledge of routing, switching, and network architecture, plus experience with multicast, segment routing, LDP, RSVP, and MVPN.
• Experience with HPE Juniper MX, QFX, PTX, and EX platforms and with implementing and troubleshooting Junos and Junos EVO features and hardware.
• Ability to develop automation using Python, Bash, and SLAX or similar scripting languages.
• Mastery of English and the local language, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work patiently with customers during outages.
