Staff Engineer, Test (ATE)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; remote work is not available

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 annual pay, plus bonus opportunities

What you will do

• Define long-term ATE test roadmaps for new product introduction, quality, and capability initiatives.
• Architect standardized software frameworks and advanced hardware platforms for the global test organization.
• Lead quality planning, architectural reviews, and design-for-test guidelines for multi-die and power module products.
• Own product qualification, characterization, and cross-platform correlation for power delivery technologies.
• Coordinate with Product Engineering, Design, Operations, foundries, OSATs, and vendors to support production ramps and global manufacturing releases.
• Provide technical oversight for yield optimization, cost reduction, customer return resolution, mentorship, and engineering governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 10+ years of semiconductor experience; a Master’s or Ph.D. with 8+ years is also accepted.
• 10+ years of experience architecting and developing automated test solutions on high-end ATE platforms such as Advantest V93K, COHU Diamondx, SPEA DOT800, or ETS364.
• 8+ years of ATE test development for complex analog, digital, high-power, and mixed-signal ICs.
• Expertise in C++ and Python, including production-grade reusable code templates, test APIs, and automation libraries.
• Experience with IC and power-circuit validation, debugging, characterization data collection, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and source measure units.
• Experience with ATE loadboard or probe-card PCB layout, parasitic reduction, signal integrity, high-current power delivery, cross-functional communication, and 0–10% travel.
