Senior Hardware Systems Engineer

Location: Hybrid/in-office role requiring regular presence at the Santa Clara, California headquarters and hardware laboratories.

Salary: $217,000–$326,000 USD annual base salary, with potential incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Define multi-generational hardware roadmaps and architectures for enterprise storage platforms.
• Lead system-level design reviews covering schematics, layouts, power delivery, thermal topology, and vendor execution.
• Architect hardware validation frameworks, telemetry, stress testing, diagnostics, and production release gates.
• Lead escalated debugging and root-cause analysis for hardware, signal-integrity, and storage-node failures.
• Build and drive adoption of automated Python and Bash test frameworks for L10 device-level and L11 rack-level validation.
• Coordinate hardware, firmware, software, network, executive, and OEM/ODM/JDM stakeholders while advancing reliability, availability, and serviceability.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in high-density x86 enterprise servers, rack-scale power delivery, thermal management, NVMe-oF, CXL, and multi-node rack architectures.
• Extensive experience with system bring-up, PCIe Gen 5/6 and high-frequency signal-integrity validation, and hardware failure analysis.
• Hands-on knowledge of BMC, Redfish, IPMI, PCIe analyzers, SMART logs, and telemetry architectures.
• Experience building scalable Python or Shell validation pipelines and qualifying L10/L11 infrastructure.
• Expertise in rack-level interconnectivity, high-speed switches, active optics, fabric topologies, and network integration.
• Track record of technical leadership, mentoring, roadmap definition, and influence across multidisciplinary engineering and vendor organizations.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with leaf-spine networks, RoCE, RDMA, InfiniBand, and BGP.
