TL;DR
Director of Transmission & Interconnection (Nuclear Energy): Developing and executing grid interconnection strategy for advanced fission project sites, isotope production facilities, and Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses with an accent on transmission studies, queue management, and GIA negotiation. Focus on managing FERC/RTO/ISO processes, aligning interconnection schedules with project development, and designing coordinated grid service solutions for co-located loads and generation.

Location: Santa Clara, California, or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs, and must work onsite there for the first two weeks of onboarding. Only applicants who qualify as U.S. persons under applicable export control laws may be eligible.

Salary: $225,000–$275,000 per year, plus equity and bonuses.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute interconnection strategy across hirify.global’s project pipeline, including queue entry timing, study management, and GIA negotiation.
  • Manage FERC, RTO/ISO, and utility interconnection processes across multiple active projects.
  • Lead transmission feasibility and impact studies with third-party consultants.
  • Negotiate Generator Interconnection Agreements and related transmission and distribution agreements.
  • Monitor FERC Order 2023 and evolving interconnection rules, and assess their impact on the portfolio.
  • Coordinate interconnection timelines with project development and design grid service solutions for isotope facilities and Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in power generation interconnection, transmission planning, or utility regulatory affairs.
  • Hands-on experience managing FERC/RTO interconnection processes; experience with MISO, PJM, WECC, SPP, NYISO, or CAISO is preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with transmission studies, queue management, and GIA negotiation.
  • Experience advocating on interconnection processes and working with Commission staff and leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person under applicable U.S. export control laws.

Nice to have

  • Nuclear, baseload, or co-located generation interconnection experience.
  • Experience with large-load interconnection processes.
