Principal, Grid Interconnection (Power Systems)

Location: Hybrid role based in Taylor, Texas; on-site attendance is required at least two days per week, and remote work must be performed from a Texas residence.

Salary: $182,000–$251,000 per year.

What you will do

• Define the technical vision and resolve complex challenges in grid and large-load interconnection.
• Develop methodologies, criteria, engineering processes, and modeling requirements for generation resources and large industrial loads.
• Lead the technical development of interconnection processes for flexible loads and loads co-located with new generation.
• Develop rules, guidelines, study practices, and modeling requirements for battery storage, hybrid resources, distributed generation, and other emerging technologies.
• Represent hirify.global in NERC, IEEE, ISO/RTO, conference, and other external technical forums.
• Mentor engineers and advise leadership on reliability risks, system analysis, emerging technologies, and the use of AI in interconnection processes.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in wholesale electric systems operations, transmission planning, system operations, grid operations, interconnection studies, or power-system modeling.
• Previous experience supervising or leading a team or project.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Advanced expertise in interconnection analysis, system performance, stability criteria, and complex technical problem-solving.
• Ability to lead by influence, build consensus, mentor engineers, and communicate complex technical concepts across organizational boundaries.
• Ability to work on-site in Taylor, Texas at least two days per week and work remotely only from a Texas residence.

Nice to have

• Experience with interconnection event analysis and dynamic models.
• Experience with the hirify.global stakeholder process and stability analysis.
• Experience presenting at industry conferences or participating in NERC, IEEE, or similar industry groups.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer certification.
