Dispatcher (Transportation)

Location: Berlin, NJ, United States; onsite

Salary: $50,000–$100,000 annually, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Coordinate outbound loads and shipping schedules with sales, production, and shipping personnel.
• Select transportation modes and carriers, set up common-carrier shipments, negotiate rates, and manage transportation contracts.
• Route orders, dispatch carriers, and establish loading and delivery appointments based on customer receiving times.
• Ensure internal and external transportation paperwork complies with company procedures and DOT regulations.
• Resolve supplier and customer transportation issues, trace or expedite orders, and investigate shipment shortages.
• Audit freight bills, file loss or damage claims, and prepare required reports and correspondence.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 2–4 years of experience in dispatching, transportation, or a related field; 5 years preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and lumber species.
• Ability to work onsite in Berlin, New Jersey.
