CEO (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia; at least 3 days per week in the local office

Building a regulated investment platform through which users can invest in listed securities and unit trusts offered by licensed partners.

What you will do

• Own the Recognized Market Operator registration process with Malaysia's Securities Commission, from pre-application consultation through launch.
• Serve as the Securities Commission's named Responsible Person and sign the system and operational readiness declaration.
• Build the operating company across technology, security, compliance, and operations.
• Manage relationships with licensed intermediaries and fund managers, including allocation of anti-money laundering monitoring responsibilities.
• Own P&L, customer growth, revenue, unit economics, and operating performance.
• Run the platform fairly and transparently while keeping the board informed and supporting its oversight duties.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years in financial services, capital markets, or regulated fintech.
• At least 3 years in senior management with functional or P&L ownership.
• At least 3 years of direct exposure to capital market intermediation, distribution, or market operation.
• Prior direct dealings with a financial regulator in a named or accountable capacity.
• Degree or professional qualification from an institution recognised by the Malaysian government and ability to meet the Securities Commission's fit and proper criteria.
• Must be available full-time, and the Responsible Person cannot hold another executive role. Strong English communication is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with unit trust distribution or online broking in Malaysia.
• Experience launching a business under a regulator's conditional approval.
• Hands-on experience reviewing guidelines and onboarding flows while driving regulatory and commercial work.
