Area Manager (East Malaysia)

Location: Kuching–Samarahan Expressway, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia; based in East Malaysia

What you will do

• Plan manpower for the area, coordinate recruitment with HR, and ensure compliance with company policies and retail SOPs.
• Manage and supervise shop managers across daily operations, customer service, visual merchandising, communications, and store standards.
• Analyze sales and store performance, set daily targets, execute promotional plans, and provide campaign feedback.
• Control stock takes, tills, cash collection, payroll issues, wage controls, schedules, compliance, and security processes.
• Lead, coach, motivate, and develop outlet teams while identifying talent and creating succession plans.
• Work with Line Managers and the Learning & Development team to support area performance and training delivery.

Requirements

• Based in East Malaysia.
• Certificate or Diploma in Retail Management or a relevant discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience at Shop Manager level or 2 years at Area Manager level in a reputable retail company of similar size.
• Proven leadership and management experience with a minimum of 50 employees.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work long hours, weekends, public holidays, and shifts, and to travel as needed.
