Retail Pharmacy Technician (Oncology)

Location: Roanoke, Virginia, United States; in-office role with regular patient contact.

Pay scale: $11.84–$18.21.

What you will do

• Dispense and label oral oncology prescriptions under the supervision of a physician or pharmacist.
• Maintain patient medication, allergy, insurance, prescription, and interaction-screening records.
• Process prescriptions, billing, prior authorizations, Medicare Part B verification, and pharmacy reports.
• Research copay and financial assistance programs for high-cost oral medications.
• Manage dispensary inventory, medication orders, invoices, recalls, returns, and wholesaler issues.
• Document patient interactions and support refills, adherence, persistence, and follow-up.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level role; retail pharmacy experience is preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate is recommended unless required by state law.
• Strong customer service, communication, organizational, detail-oriented, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work with direct patient contact and potential exposure to toxic substances and chemotherapeutic agents.
