Undergraduate Co-op Student – R&D Biologics Discovery (Biotech)

Location: Burnaby, Canada; onsite research center

Annual base salary: CAD 45,000–55,000

What you will do

• Learn and apply laboratory techniques including tissue culture, flow cytometry, imaging, and automation.
• Participate in developing novel experiments and methods for therapeutic antibody discovery.
• Use advanced fit-for-purpose laboratory instruments and systems.
• Research scientific literature and apply relevant knowledge to experiments.
• Design, execute, analyze, and document experiments in collaboration with a supervisor and functional research team.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Currently enrolled full time in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university, with a minimum 3.0 GPA or equivalent.
• Must have completed at least one year of study before the co-op begins and remain enrolled full time after the assignment.
• Must not be employed when the internship starts.
• Strong written and oral communication, organization, record keeping, time management, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Studies in biology, immunology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Availability for two consecutive four-month terms, totaling eight months.
• Previous laboratory, co-op, or internship experience.
• Ability to read and synthesize scientific literature.
