TL;DR
Group Leader - Biologics (Bioseparations): Managing biologics testing operations, staff schedules, project priorities, protocols, technical reports, investigations, and client method transfers with an accent on bioseparations, analytical instrumentation, and cGMP/GLP compliance. Focus on coordinating multiple projects, interpreting testing data, leading OOS/OOT and deviation investigations, and executing CAPA activities.
Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; onsite full-time
Salary: CAD 65,000–90,000 per year

What you will do
- Monitor workflow, schedule daily and weekly activities, and coordinate analyst and scientist workloads against project timelines.
- Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and collaboration across groups and functions.
- Support staff performance management and communicate safety, revenue, resource, improvement, and business updates to the Department Head.
- Write, review, and approve protocols, methods, technical reports, SOPs, proposals, and work-order documentation.
- Lead or support OOS, OOT, testing-failure, deviation, and CAPA investigations.
- Execute biologics experiments, analyze testing data, maintain laboratory records, coordinate method transfers, and ensure results are entered into the electronic laboratory information system or Certificate of Analysis.
Requirements
- BSc, MSc, or PhD with bioseparations experience.
- At least 5 years of experience with the demonstrated ability to perform complex duties.
- Experience with HPLC, UPLC, mass spectrometry, and electrophoresis.
- Understanding of cGMP and GLP requirements, with the ability to critically interpret and analyze data.
- Ability to coordinate a group, manage multiple projects, communicate with management, suppliers, and clients, and work accurately under time constraints.
- Candidates for Canadian openings must be authorized to work in Canada. Extended hours and shift work may occasionally be required.
Nice to have
- Experience with ELISA, qPCR, ddPCR, enzyme activity assays, SPR, BLI, or Sanger sequencing.
