Research Assistant/Technician 2 (Lavoie Lab) (RSV Research)

Location: hirify.global Hospital Site, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; onsite clinical and school-based activities

Salary: CAD 4,597.80–5,469.59 per month

hirify.global is a university research and education institution hosting the Lavoie Laboratory within the Department of Paediatrics and Faculty of Medicine.

What you will do

• Coordinate participant identification, recruitment, informed consent, and study visits for mothers and infants.
• Communicate with parents and hospital, clinical, obstetric, neonatal, and laboratory teams to support study activities.
• Collect, label, track, process, and securely store biospecimens while maintaining sample inventories.
• Enter and verify clinical and participant data in REDCap and other databases, administer questionnaires, and maintain study records.
• Support immunology research, including viral microneutralization assays, flow cytometry, cell culture, and molecular biology.
• Prepare progress reports, contribute to presentations, publications, and grant reporting, and help maintain laboratory safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school graduation, additional related training, and at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform clinical and basic research tasks with precision, independence, strong organization, motivation, and initiative.
• Ability to follow ethical, privacy, safety, and Good Clinical Practice requirements and maintain participant confidentiality.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and potentially oversee junior staff performing study procedures and blood collections.
• Commitment to respecting diverse perspectives and developing awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
