Location Manager (School Bus Operations)

Location: Oakland, CA, United States; on-site

Salary: $128,000–$136,000 per year, with potential additional bonus, equity, or commissions.

What you will do

• Lead transportation site start-ups, including contract launches, hiring, facility setup, IT implementation, and fleet intake.
• Manage daily school bus yard operations, including scheduling, staffing, route awards, field trips, charters, and trip execution.
• Own operational KPIs, P&L performance, customer relationships, service delivery, and continuous improvement.
• Build and coach high-performing teams while coordinating with HR, Recruiting, Safety, Maintenance, Payroll, and school district partners.
• Maintain safety, regulatory, incident reporting, workers’ compensation, fleet readiness, inventory, and facility standards.
• Plan and deliver school bus yard electrification projects, managing schedules, budgets, contractors, utilities, school districts, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Requirements

• 5+ years managing day-to-day operations in transportation, field services, logistics, hospitality, or a similar complex and time-sensitive environment.
• Demonstrated full P&L accountability, KPI ownership, operational planning, scheduling, staffing, and execution experience.
• 5+ years managing client-facing relationships and customer accounts in an operational environment.
• Experience managing salaried leaders or coordinating across multiple departments, with a record of developing direct reports and building effective teams.
• Strong knowledge of safety practices, compliance processes, and regulatory standards, including state, federal, DOT, district, and contractual requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft or G Suite applications, including Sheets, Docs, and Slides.

• Experience managing in a unionized environment under a collective bargaining agreement.
• Leadership experience in transportation start-ups or new district launches.
• Experience managing rapid organizational growth or major management and structural changes.
