Location: Remote within the United States, with a strong preference for candidates within commuting distance of the San Jose, California office; approximately 25–30% travel to San Jose and other locations is required.
Salary: $145,000–$170,000 annually, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do
- Manage day-to-day trade compliance operations for the United States and Canada while supporting global compliance activities.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Logistics, R&D, Quality, and other stakeholders on trade laws, policies, and procedures.
- Lead tariff mitigation and duty-saving strategies, including first sale, duty drawback, country-of-origin determinations, reconciliation, and Section 232 tariff assessments.
- Develop and continuously improve trade compliance programs, policies, SOPs, and internal controls for the United States, Canada, and Europe.
- Identify process improvements that strengthen compliance efficiency, reduce regulatory risk, and lower costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in customs, export controls, or a related field.
- Proficient knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including EAR, Census, OFAC sanctions, the Commerce Control List, ECCN classification, export licensing, and restricted-party screening.
- Advanced expertise in U.S. customs regulations, including customs valuation, HTS classification, country-of-origin determination, and import compliance.
- Working knowledge of Canadian and EU import and export regulations.
- Demonstrated experience implementing tariff mitigation and cost-reduction programs, including free trade agreements, duty drawback, and reconciliation.
- Ability to travel approximately 25–30%, including onsite travel to San Jose, California, and other locations.
Nice to have
- U.S. Licensed Customs Broker experience.
- Experience with Oracle, ERP systems, and data analytics or visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably life sciences manufacturing.
