Spacecraft Subsystem SME

Location: Onsite at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, CA; remote work is unavailable. Approximately 10% travel within Southern California and the continental United States.

Salary: $150,000–$272,500 per year

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and assessment for the ESS Program Office across mechanical, electrical, or test disciplines.
• Lead unit and subsystem design trades, integration, and testing across the spacecraft bus, payload, and space vehicle.
• Validate technical designs and interfaces across space, ground, and terminal segments.
• Support component, unit, and space vehicle test programs, including space qualification testing.
• Develop test documentation, including test plans and reports.
• Build collaborative relationships with government organizations, contractors, and FFRDC partners.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• A current, in-scope Secret or higher security clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, software, computer science, or another technical field.
• 15 years of spacecraft bus or subsystem experience, or a master’s degree with 12 years of experience.
• Proven coordination experience with effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to perform in highly visible and stressful situations.

Nice to have

• Department of Defense or intelligence community space experience.
• Space systems engineering experience at the unit, subsystem, spacecraft, or space vehicle level.
