Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Based at hirify.global's global headquarters; U.S. office roles require U.S. citizenship or qualifying ITAR work authorization.

Base salary: $132,000–$198,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $165,000–$255,000 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Lead mechanical engineering formulation for new satellite systems and business development opportunities.
  • Develop high-performance, lightweight spacecraft bus configurations, structures, mechanisms, and deployment systems.
  • Own mechanical technical development from conceptual design through production, testing, and operations.
  • Develop mass and mechanical budgets, requirements, verification methods, configuration trades, and interface specifications.
  • Perform structural, mechanism, packaging, hand-calculation, FEA, thermal, and vibration analyses.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, production drawings, test procedures, operations procedures, CONOPS, schedules, vendor plans, and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and technical drawing.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Nice to have

  • Active security clearance and an advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace, or another technical engineering discipline.
  • Spacecraft design, deployment systems, mechanism development, and rapid conceptual design experience.
  • Experience with hand calculations, FEA, GD&T, hands-on testing, and thermal or vibration test-data analysis.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, interfaces, space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid-body dynamics.
  • Experience with JAMA, DOORS, requirements assessments, interface control documents, and taking products from concept through production autonomously.
