TL;DR
Strategic Requirements Systems Engineer (Satellite Systems): Developing and managing satellite Interface Control Documents for spacecraft, ground systems, payloads, and cross-system interfaces with an accent on requirements flowdown, interface risk resolution, and systems integration. Focus on coordinating Interface Control Working Groups, aligning MBSE models with the technical baseline, and supporting secure military satellite communications acquisition decisions.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States, at a secure facility

Salary: $135,000–$198,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop, author, and maintain satellite Interface Control Documents for spacecraft, ground systems, payloads, and cross-system interfaces.
  • Create interface diagrams, data dictionaries, message formats, command and telemetry mappings, and system-level interface descriptions.
  • Coordinate with configuration management and engineering teams for Engineering Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards.
  • Identify interface risks, resolve technical issues, and support system integration and test activities.
  • Lead Interface Control Working Groups and coordinate communication across government, prime contractor, and support contractor stakeholders.
  • Prepare acquisition and technical requirements briefings, plans, papers, and related documentation for government decision-making.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Secret security clearance are required; eligibility for Secret/TS/SCI clearance is also required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in satellite systems, spacecraft development, or aerospace engineering, including 5 years on Department of Defense programs.
  • Direct experience developing or managing Interface Control Documents for complex systems.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems, including avionics, payloads, RF communications, power, GNC, thermal, and propulsion.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Cameo, plus strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

  • 12+ years of experience with space systems or space acquisitions.
  • Experience with satellite hardware and software development and model-based systems engineering.
  • INCOSE CSEP, ESEP, ASEP, PMP, or similar professional certification.
