TL;DR
Sustainment Test and Evaluation Engineer (MILSATCOM/NC3): Leading sustainment-focused testing and evaluation of MILSATCOM and NC3 systems, including hardware and software modifications, with an accent on verification, validation, interoperability, and mission readiness. Focus on troubleshooting system-level issues, evaluating upgrades, preparing technical test documentation, and supporting secure space-based communications for Joint and Allied operations.

Location: On-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. Travel up to 20% to CONUS and OCONUS locations as directed by the government customer.

Salary: $129,000–$188,000 per year

What you will do

  • Design, plan, coordinate, and execute sustainment testing for MILSATCOM and NC3 systems, terminals, subsystems, and devices.
  • Conduct independent verification and validation of hardware and software modifications, assessing performance, interoperability, and mission readiness.
  • Support system integration, communication circuit troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and identification of software or hardware defects.
  • Evaluate system modifications and deliver technical assessments addressing shortfalls and interoperability issues.
  • Prepare test plans, procedures, configuration diagrams, engineering studies, white papers, and test reports.
  • Collaborate with government, Department of War organizations, and industry partners while supporting the Sustainment Integrated Product Team.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Secret security clearance are required; a clearance active within the last 24 months is considered current.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a similar technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with Department of War, USAF, or USSF test processes and documentation, military or civilian clients, and multi-contractor environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • This is a full-time, on-site role with standard work hours in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Nice to have

  • Developmental Test experience with a Lead Developmental Test Organization or other verification test organization.
  • Operational Test experience with an Operational Test Agency or other validation test organization.
  • Experience handling cryptographic equipment and conducting cybersecurity testing for Department of War STIG compliance.
  • INCOSE certification such as ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP.
  • Knowledge of mission system sustainment processes and Narrowband, Wideband, or Protected SATCOM capabilities, including FAB-T, MMS, Global-ASNT, or GBS.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or Digital Engineering applications such as MBSE.
