Service Technician - Professional (Commercial Refrigeration)

Commercial refrigeration services for supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold-storage facilities.

What you will do

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of supermarket refrigeration systems and temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Troubleshoot complex service calls, compressors, leaks, thermostatic expansion valves, pressure regulators, oil-management systems, and refrigerant controls.
• Work with CO2 refrigeration, parallel rack systems, EMS controls, variable-frequency drives, defrost systems, motors, wiring diagrams, and refrigeration startups.
• Manage truck inventory, parts ordering, invoicing, vehicle maintenance, service documentation, and electronic communications.
• Build customer relationships, identify potential sales opportunities, and provide accurate technical recommendations.
• Mentor other technicians and lead HVAC/R preventive-maintenance programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; an HVAC/R technical school degree is preferred.
• External candidates need 7 years of field experience, or 5 years with technical-school certification. Internal candidates need 3 years as a certified technician plus completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record in accordance with fleet policy.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, hand-tool skills, decision-making ability, communication skills, leadership, business acumen, and accurate paperwork skills.
• Must be able to work onsite in Baton Rouge, work nights and/or weekends when required, climb ladders, work at high elevations, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• HVAC/R technical school degree.
• Working knowledge of basic refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
