Director, Data Governance

What you will do

• Define, implement, and maintain the enterprise-wide data governance framework, including policies, standards, and processes.
• Partner with business and technology leaders to improve data quality, metadata management, and master data alignment.
• Oversee compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, industry-specific requirements, and internal controls.
• Lead the data stewardship program and establish accountability for data ownership across domains and functions.
• Drive adoption of data governance tools and practices to improve transparency and trust in data usage.
• Develop metrics to measure data quality, governance effectiveness, and business impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in data governance or data management leadership roles.
• Deep knowledge of data management frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM, plus metadata and master data practices.
• Experience implementing governance practices in enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake.
• Strong understanding of data privacy and protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives across business and technology teams.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing enterprise data governance tools such as data.world, Collibra, or Alation.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, financial services, or another highly regulated industry.
