What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale data engineering solutions for commercial and healthcare data.
• Influence platform architecture, engineering patterns, technical standards, and long-term technology strategy across multiple teams.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for complex platform initiatives, architecture reviews, and critical capabilities.
• Build scalable, reusable, and maintainable data services in collaboration with Product Owners, Architects, Managers, and Engineers.
• Drive performance optimization, scalability, reliability, automation, observability, and operational excellence.
• Mentor Senior Data Engineers and promote engineering best practices across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering and 6+ years of experience with SQL and Python.
• Deep expertise in Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, and modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale ETL/ELT solutions and working with distributed data systems, data warehousing, modeling, quality, integration, and governance.
• Strong experience with CI/CD automation, GitLab, Azure data platforms, observability, monitoring, reliability engineering, and performance tuning.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-powered productivity tools such as Copilot or Cursor.
• Knowledge of Cloudera Data Platform and database modeling methodologies including Kimball, Inmon, or Data Vault.
• Experience with healthcare or pharmaceutical data and multi-terabyte or petabyte-scale environments.
• Experience driving technical strategy in a product-led organization and leading technical communities of practice.
