Automation/Robot Specialist (Manufacturing Automation)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; onsite, shift-based work at Bridgewater Interiors II. Available shifts include A Crew: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; B Crew: Tuesday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m.–4:30 a.m.; C Crew: Friday and Saturday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Sunday and Monday, 6:00 p.m.–4:30 a.m.

What you will do

• Perform preventive maintenance on robots, PLCs, HMIs, conveyors, vision systems, servo systems, pneumatics, electrical devices, and related automation equipment.
• Respond to downtime events and diagnose electrical, mechanical, controls, robotic, network, and process faults.
• Complete inspections, adjustments, component replacements, backups, calibrations, and functional checks within the authorized scope.
• Document maintenance work, parts, downtime, corrective actions, and failure modes in a CMMS.
• Support root-cause analysis and reliability improvements by identifying recurring failures and escalating complex issues to Automation Engineering.
• Train production operators in safe basic automation troubleshooting and escalation practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of industrial maintenance experience with automated manufacturing equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude, structured troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs.
• Intermediate Rockwell PLC and HMI troubleshooting using Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, and RSLinx, including ladder logic, I/O, communications, fault codes, trends, and approved online edits.
• FANUC robot troubleshooting, basic teach-pendant programming, position teaching, I/O verification, backups, alarm interpretation, servo diagnostics, mastering, calibration, and safety-zone verification.
• Basic Keyence and Cognex vision-system setup and troubleshooting, plus experience with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, servo, and EtherNet/IP systems.
• Required training includes FANUC Handling Tool Operations, OSHA 10-Hour General Industry, Lockout/Tagout Authorized Employee, NFPA 70E arc-flash safety awareness, and confined-space entry training when applicable.

Nice to have

• Technical certification or an associate degree in industrial maintenance, automation, mechatronics, electrical technology, or a related field.
• FANUC maintenance and collaborative robot safety training.
• Rockwell ControlLogix and Studio 5000 training, or Keyence CV-X and Cognex In-Sight training.
