Senior Electrical Engineer (Spacecraft Electronics)

Hiring range: $148,000–$222,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Own the next generation of deep-space compute and storage capabilities for the Interplanetary Sciences Program.
• Design, build, and qualify high-performance spacecraft electronics, including compute modules, network switches, storage nodes, and communications terminals.
• Balance system capability with spacecraft constraints such as power, thermal performance, EMI, mechanical conditions, and reliability.
• Collaborate with science and software teams to bring up core spacecraft and ground software infrastructure and validate full-system operation.
• Lead hands-on technology development campaigns, rapid prototyping, early testing, interface derisking, and performance validation.
• Work with internal and external teams to advance designs from analysis and prototypes to flight-ready systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing and delivering high-performance digital electronics.
• Experience leading the design, bring-up, and validation of sophisticated board-level electronics.
• Hands-on experience with demanding thermal and electromechanical environments.
• Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Architecture or electrical engineering experience with non-volatile storage, mobile compute, or server-class computing.
• Experience designing multi-rail power converters with strict sequencing requirements.
• Experience with compute and storage survivability in space and radiation environments.
• Practical systems integration and risk management experience in a development program.
