Health Information Specialist Temp (Lewiston, ME)

Location: Onsite at St. Mary's Hospital, 93 Campus Ave, Lewiston, ME 04240, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm CST

What you will do

• Receive and process patient health information and medical record requests according to company and facility procedures.
• Manage, assemble, review, and maintain accurate patient health records.
• Create digital images of paper documents for storage in electronic medical records.
• Retrieve and transmit records to internal and external requesters while protecting patient privacy.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls, patient walk-ins, faxes, mail, data entry, and pickup scheduling.
• Meet site productivity expectations and communicate changing workloads or operational issues to the manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work onsite in Lewiston, Maine and commute between locations as needed.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills.
• Comfort using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and work overtime during peak seasons when required.

Nice to have

• Experience in a healthcare environment.
• Production or metric-based work experience.
• In-person customer service experience.
• Experience building relationships with onsite clients and customers.
• Experience suggesting process improvements and providing feedback to internal stakeholders.
