Staff Embedded Software Test Engineer

What you will do

• Lead testing of embedded firmware and software throughout the product development cycle.
• Design black-box, white-box, stress, long-duration, integration, and system-level test strategies.
• Develop automation plans, reusable test frameworks, test utilities, and hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure.
• Implement tests during pre-silicon and post-silicon development phases.
• Debug and triage issues with embedded software, firmware, hardware, and systems teams.
• Present test coverage, risks, results, and defect findings to product owners and technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering.
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems, embedded firmware, and real-time operating systems.
• Experience with MCU and DSP cores or processors and their supporting software stacks.
• Proficiency in Python, shell, C, and C++, including development of embedded test frameworks and hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure.
• Experience designing test plans, deriving traceable test cases, automating functional and regression testing, and analyzing results.
• Hands-on debugging with logs, traces, debuggers, instrumentation, oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira, SVN/Git, Jenkins, Agile Scrum, SDLC, and defect management practices.
• Experience testing embedded software and firmware on development boards and validating hardware, software, and system-level interfaces.
