What you will do
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients and families with complex oncology needs.
- Assess, plan, implement, document, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and other procedures safely.
- Provide pre-procedure assessment, medication reconciliation, IV access, laboratory work, sedation support, and discharge teaching.
- Monitor patients during procedures using airway assessment, capnography, telemetry, and circulation and respiration checks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate patient flow, support research specimen collection, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is strongly preferred. Associate-degree nurses must complete a BSN within four years.
- Completion of the Oncology Nurse Residency Program or one year of recent Registered Nurse experience.
- Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the State of New Hampshire, as appropriate.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required; AHA ACLS is accepted as the minimum requirement.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, independent decision-making, effective communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Ability to care for young adults through geriatric patients with complex needs in a busy setting.
Nice to have
- Ambulatory or oncology nursing experience.
- Professional certification such as OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, or RN-BC.
