Senior Counsel (Insurance Defense)

Location: San Diego, CA; remote, hybrid, or onsite work options available

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional annual billable-hours bonuses are available.

What you will do

• Develop compelling case themes and defense strategies.
• Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, trials, discovery, and full case management.
• Communicate routinely with clients and cultivate client relationships.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and litigation professionals at all experience levels.
• Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys.

Requirements

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active license to practice law in the State of California required.
• 8+ years of solid litigation experience, including litigation support, deposition preparation, and trial preparation.
• Experience managing all aspects of discovery and trial preparation.
• Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and time-management systems.
