English / Spanish District Translator

Location: Clarke County, Georgia, United States; reliable transportation between sites required

What you will do

• Provide English/Spanish translation and interpreting services for district staff, teachers, students, and families.
• Translate documents and critical information for websites and other public venues.
• Organize interpreting services for parent/teacher conferences, open houses, and other school events.
• Support the Parent Information Center with registration of non-English-speaking families.
• Provide technical support for accessing translated materials through the Department of Education's TransAct system.
• Build partnerships with local agencies to develop a volunteer interpreting program and respond to emergency translation needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish.
• Reliable transportation between school sites.
• Ability to perform translation services, maintain accurate records, schedule activities and events, and work with diverse individuals.
• Ability to work flexible hours and maintain confidentiality, tact, and patience.
• Valid Georgia driver's license and criminal justice fingerprint background clearance required.

Nice to have

• College training or academic preparation in both English and Spanish.
