What you will do

  • Receive, process, distribute, store, and transport patient specimens while preserving specimen integrity.
  • Load and unload the pneumatic tube system and perform routine and stat specimen delivery and pickup runs.
  • Enter specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) through barcode scanning or manual entry.
  • Verify labeling, document cancellations and discrepancies, and process add-on tests and send-out testing.
  • Prepare specimens through centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, shipping, and pre-analytic automation.
  • Answer provider and clinical staff inquiries, review pending lists, and process bone marrow orders and specimens.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor's degree in physical science is preferred.
  • No prior experience required; healthcare or laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including keyboard and mouse use, file management, operating-system navigation, and basic software applications.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and Department of Transportation specimen-shipping regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, multitask, remain flexible, and work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • No license, certification, or registration required.
