Senior Software Engineer, Test Automation (High-Content Imaging)

Location: 100% on-site in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, United States; minimal travel of one week or less per year.

Annual salary: $110,000–$125,000, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Design, implement, debug, and maintain automated end-to-end and integration tests for high-content imaging software using Cypress and related technologies.
• Develop reusable test frameworks and automate workflows spanning multiple products, services, and instrument-control applications.
• Monitor CI/CD pipelines and software builds, investigate failures, distinguish product defects from test or infrastructure issues, and communicate release readiness.
• Translate product risks, customer workflows, and acceptance criteria into automated test designs and prioritize regression-coverage improvements.
• Lead focused automation initiatives and collaborate with product owners, developers, QA engineers, engineering managers, and software leads.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with 5+ years of professional software development or software test automation experience; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated end-to-end or integration tests for commercial software, with Cypress or a comparable browser automation framework.
• Practical experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency with Git, npm and build tools, REST-based applications, test design patterns, defect tracking, and Agile development practices.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems independently, perform root-cause analysis, lead small initiatives, and communicate clearly across functions.

Nice to have

• Experience testing laboratory instruments, imaging systems, robotic systems, or other software connected to physical hardware.
• Familiarity with microscopy, image acquisition and analysis workflows, or life science applications.
• Experience automating workflows across desktop applications, browser applications, backend services, or independently released products.
• Experience with Angular testing, API testing, Windows desktop automation, test reporting systems, or regression-suite observability.
