TL;DR
Principal Aerospace Engineer (Aerospace Systems and Aerodynamics): Leading strategic development of advanced aerospace technologies and directing multidisciplinary engineering projects for manned and unmanned ISR and aviation systems with an accent on aerodynamic analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and aircraft performance. Focus on influencing aerospace standards, guiding technical innovation, mentoring engineers, and solving complex design and modeling challenges across aerospace programs.

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado, United States; office or hybrid environment. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Estimated starting salary: $165,010.21–$226,889.04 per year, plus potential annual incentive pay.

What you will do

  • Lead strategic planning and development of advanced aerospace technologies.
  • Provide technical direction across multiple aerospace engineering projects.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and technical forums.
  • Influence aerospace standards, best practices, and continuous engineering improvement.
  • Align engineering goals with executive leadership and business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of aerospace engineers, including performance management and development planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • 14+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience with advanced aerodynamic analysis and engineering principles.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
  • Thorough understanding of Computer-Aided Engineering tools, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship are required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with aircraft external loads, performance, stability and control, flight testing, or wind-tunnel testing.
  • Background in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Experience with system-level modeling and simulation, parametric design, model-based definition, or flight mechanics.
  • Exposure to StarCCM+ and internal or external thermal analysis.
