Laboratory Analyst I (Air Testing)

What you will do

• Prepare standards, calibrate instruments, load sequences, and operate GC/GC-MS under supervision.
• Inspect, prepare, screen, batch, and document client samples while managing daily sample loads and project needs.
• Perform primary data review, maintain LIMS and logbooks, and deliver accurate, compliant results.
• Monitor backlogs and consumables, maintain small equipment, change gas cylinders, and confirm instrument readiness.
• Perform basic troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, method detection limits, and proficiency testing under guidance.
• Collaborate with QA, Sample Receiving, Project Managers, Service Center Managers, and laboratory colleagues; identify process improvements and support corrective actions.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent education and laboratory experience considered.
• 3–5 years of analytical testing experience in an environmental laboratory required.
• Experience with air-testing methodologies, sample preparation, instrumentation, data review, troubleshooting, and quality systems preferred.
• Familiarity with LIMS and strong Microsoft Office, organization, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work with compressed gases and cryogenic liquids, operate laboratory equipment, lift up to 35 pounds, and stand or move for approximately 80% of the shift.
• Availability for the Tuesday–Saturday schedule, 11:00 AM–7:30 PM, with possible weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Nice to have

• Experience with EPA, ASTM, and SCAQMD methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced technical competency and independent problem-solving experience in environmental laboratory production.
