Embedded Software Intern (Rust)

Location: On-site in Austin or San Francisco, United States

Compensation: $114,000–$131,000 annualized, paid hourly, plus a housing stipend

hirify.global is an early-stage hardware startup that designs and builds semiconductor fabrication hardware, software, fabs, tools, and components.

What you will do

• Develop real-time Linux applications and microcontroller firmware in Rust.
• Control semiconductor fabrication equipment through embedded software.
• Build backend systems for capturing and analyzing semiconductor process data.
• Bring up and test high-performance fabrication tools with tight requirements across structures, optics, liquids, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry.
• Collaborate within an integrated engineering team on rapid hardware and software iteration.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python, C, and C++.
• Experience with low-level systems programming and a solid understanding of embedded systems and operating-system concepts, including Linux or RTOS.
• Experience programming microcontrollers and working with peripherals such as ADC, GPIO, PWM, SPI, and I2C.
• Experience with end-to-end system bring-up.
• A portfolio, such as GitHub, is required when applying.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with electronics and feedback control systems.
• Proficiency in Rust.
