System Test Engineer (SATCOM)

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States; up to 25% travel to customer sites may be required.

Salary: $82,000–$129,500 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area, the range is $102,000–$153,000 annually.

What you will do

• Prepare test plans, procedures, requirements, and test cases aligned with customer requirements and industry standards.
• Develop custom test setups and automate software testing using commercial tools.
• Use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and other RF equipment to test hardware and software releases.
• Perform full-cycle testing for legacy products, new releases, and new hardware platforms.
• Lead or support factory integration and system testing of large-scale UHF SATCOM systems at factory and customer sites.
• Communicate test failures, corrective actions, and results to multifunctional development engineering teams through technical reports and presentations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience creating test requirements, plans, cases, methodologies, and executing tests.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering program, or an Electronics Associate degree with equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including the OSI model, Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, IP and MAC addresses, TCP, and UDP.
• U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain a United States Secret security clearance.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Programming or scripting experience with Python, C/C++, or another language.
• Experience with test automation tools.
• Experience testing wireless or satellite communication systems.
