Billing Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Remote; occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $22.00–$25.00 per hour during the first year of employment.

What you will do

• Prepare and submit accurate claims and invoices after confirming eligibility, authorizations, payer requirements, and billing details.
• Research unpaid, delayed, rejected, and denied claims, then prepare corrected, adjusted, or resubmitted claims.
• Monitor Electronic Visit Verification reports and resolve missing visits, data mismatches, validation errors, and failed transmissions.
• Reconcile EVV visit data with claims, authorizations, patient, caregiver, service, and payer information.
• Coordinate issue resolution with payers, state agencies, EVV aggregators, vendors, and internal operational teams.
• Maintain audit-ready records, identify recurring issues, and communicate root causes and process improvement recommendations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of billing workflows, claim submission, payer follow-up, denial and rejection research, and data accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve routine-to-moderately difficult billing, payer, EVV, and data issues independently.
• Ability to manage high-volume work, meet deadlines, and prioritize timely filing, compliance, and payer requirements.
• Professional communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, payers, state agencies, and vendors.
• Working knowledge of Excel, including filtering, sorting, formatting, reconciliation, and data review.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of healthcare billing, home care billing, Medicaid, managed care, revenue cycle, or payer operations experience.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in business, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field.
• Experience with CDPAP, LHCSA, SFC, or multi-state home care billing.
• Experience with EVV workflows, HHAeXchange, Medflyt, Sandata, or similar systems.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
