Java Staff Software Developer IV (AI)

Location: Remote from Colombia; Bogotá or Medellín

What you will do

• Own key platform features and architectural improvements from design through implementation.
• Design and evolve shared, scalable, secure, and reusable platform capabilities used by multiple teams.
• Lead proof-of-concepts, design reviews, RFCs, and cross-team technical decisions.
• Address complex platform challenges including third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization.
• Partner with QA, Product, Security, DevOps, and domain specialists to improve observability, reliability, performance, and cost.
• Mentor engineers, support production systems, lead root-cause analysis, and promote engineering standards.

Requirements

• Extensive server-side Java expertise with at least 8 years of core Java experience.
• Experience with both monolithic applications and microservices.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, and cloud-native systems on AWS.
• Experience designing and owning architectural decisions for shared platforms or infrastructure.
• Strong software engineering, communication, technical leadership, and cross-team influence skills.
• Experience balancing delivery speed with long-term platform health and improving reliability, security, maintainability, and cost.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure or Google Cloud.
• Open-source contributions or a strong GitHub portfolio.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
