Java Staff Software Developer IV (AI)

Location: Remote in Colombia; Bogotá or Medellín

What you will do

• Own key platform features and architectural improvements from design through implementation.
• Design and evolve shared cloud-native platforms used by multiple teams.
• Address complex challenges including third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization.
• Lead technical decisions through design reviews, RFCs, proof-of-concepts, and cross-team collaboration.
• Improve observability, reliability, security, performance, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Define responsible AI-assisted development standards, evaluate agentic tools, and mentor engineers in their use.

Requirements

• Subject-matter expertise in server-side Java with at least 8 years of experience with core Java.
• Experience with both monolithic applications and microservices.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, and AWS cloud-native systems.
• Proven experience designing shared platforms or infrastructure and owning important architectural decisions.
• Strong software engineering, communication, mentoring, and cross-team technical leadership skills.
• Remote work is based in Colombia, with Bogotá or Medellín listed as locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure or Google Cloud.
• Open-source contributions or a strong GitHub portfolio.
• Additional familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
