Director, Portfolio Management, Real Estate Finance (AI)

Location: Chevy Chase, Maryland, United States; hybrid schedule with 4 days in the office per week

Salary: Up to $225,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Manage a nationwide portfolio of performing commercial real estate loans and monitor property performance, cash flow, sponsors, collateral, covenants, and market trends.
• Identify emerging credit and market risks, lead risk-rating reviews, and present recommendations to senior management.
• Evaluate and negotiate funding requests, waivers, extensions, modifications, covenant matters, and business-plan changes.
• Manage early-stage credit issues and support modifications, restructurings, workouts, and lender-remedy strategies.
• Coach portfolio-management professionals and collaborate with originations, underwriting, loan closing, legal, servicing, and senior management.
• Improve reporting, exception tracking, workflow, and early-warning capabilities through data, automation, and AI.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 8 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, credit, portfolio management, asset management, or a related field.
• Direct experience managing a performing commercial real estate portfolio and analyzing CRE credit, property performance, sponsors, loan documents, and lender remedies.
• Borrower-facing experience involving negotiations, modifications, extensions, covenant matters, or business-plan changes.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or managing less-experienced professionals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, plus strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
