Sr. Engineer - Structures & Analytics (Ansys)

Location: Onsite in Peoria, Illinois, USA

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Analyze new and existing mechanical components, structures, and systems through concept, design, and hardware stages.
• Recommend and evaluate design modifications that improve product reliability, performance, quality, and value.
• Plan and execute more than 10 analysis projects annually and prepare comprehensive technical data reports.
• Conduct engineering evaluations, investigations, calculations, and tests with defined requirements and outcomes.
• Provide design-analysis guidance and support to design and test engineers.
• Improve engineering processes and support compliance with global product safety and design standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or an equivalent relevant discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in engineering, design, or machine applications.
• At least 3 years of experience in structural analysis using tools such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus, or Nastran.
• Strong knowledge of strength of materials, closed-form calculations, free-body diagrams, fatigue theory, and engineering physics.
• Willingness to use Agentic AI and other assistive technologies.
• Willingness to learn Python, C++, or other programming languages, plus experience working in cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ansys Workbench, Mechanical, MAPDL, Discovery, or other Ansys tools.
• Knowledge of nonlinear materials, nonlinear contact, ROPS simulation, ISO 3471, dynamic analysis, MBD, strain gauges, or laboratory testing.
• Mining-industry experience and hands-on experience with prototyping, manufacturing, casting, machining, fabrication, or assembly.
• Experience with Pro/E Creo, SolidWorks, Lean Engineering, or Change Management.
• Professional registration or membership in technical committees or societies.
