Staff Analyst, Methods (Aerospace)

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Requires up to 10% travel to hirify.global or supplier facilities.

Base pay: $15,000–$190,000 per year, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Perform structural analyses of rotor systems, control systems, blades, and other dynamic aircraft components.
• Evaluate static strength, fatigue life, damage tolerance, and dynamic response using hand calculations and finite element analysis.
• Author structural substantiation reports and technical documentation.
• Support component ground and flight testing, including test requirements, instrumentation, and data reduction.
• Develop structural-analysis best practices and mentor less-experienced team members.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, loads and dynamics teams, customers, and suppliers on rotor and propeller blade development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience designing and analyzing critical aircraft structures.
• Proficiency with ANSYS, NASTRAN, or other finite element software.
• Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance in composite structures and high- and low-cycle fatigue in metallic components.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret CAD models, and perform CAD design; NX is preferred.
• Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills and experience in a fast-paced design environment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or 10+ years of rotorcraft dynamic-systems experience.
• Experience with ground and flight testing of critical composite aerospace structures.
• Familiarity with FAA rotorcraft and aircraft loads and dynamics regulations and certification efforts.
• Experience with static and dynamic loads derivation, aeroelastic analysis, Python, or Matlab scripting.
