Senior Software Engineer, Java (Patching)

Location: Remote work is available only for candidates located in the USA and residing in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Hybrid work is available from offices in Austin, Texas, or Tampa, Florida. Onsite interviews may be required. hirify.global cannot hire candidates within the city limits of Chicago.

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, New Jersey, Washington, or New York.

What you will do

• Build and scale backend applications in Java and Kotlin for patch management across millions of endpoints.
• Develop capabilities for discovering, packaging, and deploying operating-system and third-party software patches.
• Implement object-oriented design patterns and enterprise-level software solutions.
• Develop REST services and responsive client-server messaging.
• Design and optimize data structures, relational databases, caching systems, and scalable platform components.
• Collaborate with AI workflow, server, platform, design, and product teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Expertise in object-oriented design, scalable data structures, API best practices, and REST service development with Jersey or Spring.
• Experience with relational database design and development, caching systems, and Redis.
• Expert knowledge of quality testing practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• React or Angular experience for occasional front-end work on patching workflows and dashboards.
