Software Development Engineer - Analysis Engineering Tools (Aerospace)

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $164,652–$230,512 per year. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain automated engineering analysis tools and methods.
• Modernize existing tools and develop software pipelines supporting physics and engineering analysis.
• Use AWS compute infrastructure and HPC workflows to automate engineering analysis.
• Integrate inputs and automate outputs for third-party analysis tools such as Ansys and Altair.
• Build containerized development and execution environments for Linux and macOS.
• Develop APIs, services, job orchestration layers, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices for scalable software delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience with production systems.
• Strong AWS infrastructure experience, especially with compute-oriented services such as EC2, Image Builder, and ParallelCluster or equivalent.
• Proficiency in at least one of Java, Python, or C#.
• Experience with Linux system administration, Docker, build pipelines, REST APIs, Git, code reviews, and DevOps practices.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted U.S. refugees or asylees.

Nice to have

• Degree or certificate in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering, or physics.
• Experience with HPC-as-a-service platforms and engineering analysis or CAE tools.
• Experience supporting macOS and Linux environments in parallel.
• Interest in applying AI/ML to analysis automation and efficiency.
