Mechanical Engineer (Energy)

Location: Burnsville, Minnesota, United States; onsite role associated with capital project and field engineering activities.

Salary: $70,000–$156,600 per year, depending on level and experience.

What you will do

• Apply engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to mechanical engineering assignments.
• Develop technical documentation, including designs, calculations, reports, testing materials, and standards.
• Support operations, maintenance, testing, diagnostics, regulatory activities, inspections, and commissioning.
• Coordinate or lead project phases including research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning.
• Support bid and proposal evaluations through technical analysis and calculations.
• Coordinate interns, drafters, technicians, craft personnel, and less experienced engineers as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum; mechanical engineering is preferred.
• Relevant experience varies by level: 0+ years for Entry, 2+ years for Staff, 5+ years with EIT/FE or 7+ years without for Senior, and 9+ years with PE or 15+ years without for Principal.
• EIT/FE is preferred for Entry and strongly preferred for Staff; required for the Senior level under the stated experience path.
• PE registration is required for the Principal level and may be required for Senior depending on business needs.
• Ability to demonstrate the technical skills and core competencies established for the applicable engineering level.

Nice to have

• Project engineering or project management experience.
• Exposure to or experience in heavy industry.
