Electrical Project Engineer

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States; office-based

Salary: $88,900–$128,750 per year, plus benefits and potential performance incentives.

What you will do

• Design medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, typically 480V and below, for energy efficiency and facility retrofit projects.
• Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and narrative scopes of work.
• Conduct site investigations and collect field data to evaluate existing systems and identify upgrade opportunities.
• Support technical approaches, constructability reviews, cost estimates, and system-level design decisions.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors on design intent, constructability, and pricing.
• Support commissioning, measurement and verification planning, and technical scope-change management during project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college or university.
• At least 3 years of experience in electrical engineering or project engineering.
• Ability to review confidential U.S. security-related information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to travel as required to support project execution.
• Electrical designs must comply with applicable codes, industry standards, safety requirements, and customer requirements.

Nice to have

• EIT or PE license.
• Certified Energy Manager certification or progress toward certification.
• Experience with energy efficiency projects, ESPC or UESC programs, federal or government facilities, and construction-phase activities.
• Experience with lighting retrofits, electrical distribution upgrades, controls integration, generators, or building automation systems.
• Familiarity with commissioning, measurement and verification, AutoCAD, and electrical design or analysis software.
