Managing Director of Distribution Finance Underwriting and Portfolio Management

Location: Schaumburg, Illinois, United States; office workplace type

Salary: $125,000–$255,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for applicable incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead underwriting and portfolio management strategy in line with growth objectives, profitability targets, and risk appetite.
• Manage and develop underwriting and portfolio management leaders across the assigned region, segment, or specialty line of business.
• Own credit quality and portfolio performance, including asset quality, risk ratings, exceptions, concentrations, and losses.
• Oversee underwriting quality, transaction structuring, credit decisioning, and complex credit negotiations.
• Partner with sales, executive leadership, Regional Credit Officers, Credit Review, and Risk Management to balance growth, customer needs, and risk discipline.
• Lead regulatory readiness, audit initiatives, control enhancements, process optimization, reporting, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
• At least 12 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management.
• Experience leading leaders and developing high-performing teams.
• Expertise in credit underwriting, portfolio risk management, complex structuring, credit policy, and regulatory expectations.
• Expert working knowledge of banking product documentation, including structuring, proposing, and negotiating loan documentation.
• Expert knowledge of credit risk management, legal and compliance requirements, and US lending regulations.
