Associate Scientist (Polymer Processing)

Salary: $73,947–$115,542 annually; annual bonus target: 6%

What you will do

• Operate, set up, start, shut down, clean, and maintain lab-scale and pilot-scale extrusion equipment.
• Prepare polymer, pigment, and additive formulations and conduct hands-on extrusion trials.
• Support product development for titanium dioxide and adjacent material applications in plastics.
• Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair coordination.
• Conduct safe experiments, collect and organize process and material performance data, and communicate results to project teams.
• Support scale-up, process optimization, and application testing in relevant polymer systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent plus at least 10 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, polymer science, plastics engineering, or a related field plus at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience operating, setting up, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintaining extrusion equipment.
• Working knowledge of extrusion temperature profiles, screw speed, feed rate, residence time, torque, pressure, pelletizing, and material handling.
• Ability to analyze process data and material performance results, troubleshoot mechanical or process issues, and coordinate routine maintenance.
• Ability to follow laboratory and extrusion safety procedures, contribute to SOPs and hazard reviews, and work in an environmentally responsible manner.
• Strong collaboration, technical writing, recordkeeping, computer, spreadsheet, communication, and customer-interaction skills.
