Medical Billing Specialist (Oncology)

What you will do

• Review, audit, manipulate, and manually enter charges to ensure accurate and timely charge capture.
• Create daily charge files from laboratory application software and audit billing reports.
• Reconcile scheduled appointments and communicate outstanding charges or billing issues with clinical staff, providers, and revenue cycle management teams.
• Review medical records and apply diagnosis, procedure, modifier, and oncology coding requirements.
• Resolve Unity tasks, claim edits, rejections, denials, tickets, and other billing issues in the practice management system.
• Apply medical billing guidelines and policies while following standardized procedures and collaborating with the billing and accounts receivable team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in charge entry, billing, or coding; oncology healthcare experience is preferred.
• Expertise in medical coding, insurance billing, reimbursement processes, and regulations covering Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans.
• Detailed knowledge of HCPCS, CPT, and ICD codes, including oncology coding and carrier-specific requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, multitasking, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with Windows-based applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
