What you will do
- Assign appropriate surgical and office procedural and diagnostic (CPT - E/M, surgical, and ICD) codes to patient records.
- Review medical records to determine E/M service levels and identify non-E/M procedures.
- Query physicians to clarify inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear documentation for coding purposes.
- Monitor and resolve records that are not coded, billed, or rejected in a timely manner.
- Maintain certifications from AHIMA or AAPC and stay current with coding guidelines.
- Verify and correct billing information in coordination with the Central Billing Office.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in coding (CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT) required.
- Minimum one year of physician office coding experience required.
- Formal training in CPT and ICD coding principles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and 3rd party payer regulations.
- Must be based in the United States.
