Remote Physician Coding Specialist II (Cardiology/OBGYN)

Location: Remote role associated with Columbus, Ohio; Livonia, Michigan; and Langhorne, Pennsylvania

What you will do

• Review patient medical records to determine E/M service levels, procedures, surgical services, and diagnoses.
• Assign and sequence CPT, E/M, surgical, modifier, and ICD codes for physician services.
• Abstract, validate, verify, and correct clinical and billing information.
• Query physicians when documentation is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear.
• Investigate uncoded, unbilled, or rejected records and take appropriate corrective action.
• Communicate coding discrepancies and reimbursement questions to medical staff, patient accounting, and the Central Billing Office.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of physician office coding experience.
• Formal training or previous work experience in CPT and ICD coding.
• One of the following coding certifications is required: CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT.
• Knowledge of professional services coding, Medicare, Medicaid, third-party payer regulations, and E/M documentation guidelines.
• Strong analytical, communication, and information interpretation skills.

Nice to have

• Certification specifically focused on physician services, such as CPC or CCS-P.
• Experience with cardiology or OBGYN coding.
