What you will do

• Assign appropriate surgical and office procedural and diagnostic (CPT - E/M, surgical, and ICD) codes to patient records.
• Review medical records to determine E/M service levels and identify non-E/M procedures.
• Query physicians to clarify inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear documentation for coding purposes.
• Monitor and resolve records that are not coded, billed, or rejected in a timely manner.
• Maintain certifications from AHIMA or AAPC and stay current with coding guidelines.
• Verify and correct billing information in coordination with the Central Billing Office.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in coding (CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT) required.
• Minimum one year of physician office coding experience required.
• Formal training in CPT and ICD coding principles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and 3rd party payer regulations.
• Must be based in the United States.
